Akeson Racing has Fair Run in Modoc Tune-UP

Modoc, SC - The Akeson Racing crew rolled into the Modoc Speedway on Saturday Oct. 18th to try out the new wider Modoc surface for the very first time. There were 12 crate late models signed in and Akeson with not practice laps knocked off the 7th fastest time with an 18.930. Michael hoped into his Barry Wright machine starting on the inside of the 4th row for the 25 lap feature event with to do. When the green flag flew that is exactly what Michael went to do quickly moving up to 5th, and working his way to the fourth position before the checkered flag flew. Michael and crew used this weekend as a tune up for the next big event at Modoc Speedway, the Crate Late Model Spook-Tacular paying $1500 to win.

 
Akeson Has Second Best Night of Season

Sylvania, GA - Michael Akeson made another trip down to James "Red" Griffin's Screven Motor Speedway for a weekly crate late model event. It was the smallest field of late models of the season for the small racey south Georgia Oval with only 13 cars signed but when it was all said and done Michael walked away with a 3rd place finish. Look for Michael to making another trip down to south Georgia for a pair of Southern All Star events at Swainsboro Raceway on Friday night and Screven on Saturday night. Friday night's event will pay $5,000 to the winner at Swainsboro Raceway and Saturday's event at Screven Motor Speedway will pay $10,000 to the winner. On Sunday Michael and crew will travel back up to Gaffney, SC to use the rain tickets from the early August event paying $10,000 to win at the Cherokee Speedway. This makes three large races this weekend for Akeson Racing, make sure you catch Michael Akeson crew in action near you.

Double Duty Served Up for Akeson at 'The Park'

Grovetown, GA - Michael Akeson participated in the first ever Summer Shootout at Gordon Park Speedway this weekend on August 8th & 9th. This event featured the crate late models running for a $2000 first place prize along with the Super Late Models running for a $2500 to win first place prize. Akeson would compete in both hauling two cars to the track this weekend. Friday night feature qualifying in both classes. With track conditions on the shaky side Michael would have a rough Friday night qualifying. In the crate late model Michael qualified 12th out of 17 cars entered with a 19.390. In the super late model Akeson notched a time of 19.288 giving him the 8th starting spot in a field of 11. When the first feature began Saturday after rain delay Akeson quickly began to work his was through the field on a track that featured one groove and tough passing conditions. When the checkered flag fell Michael walked away with a 9th place finish. The big finale was the super late model feature and when this event began it came to quick stop as quick pile up in turn one collected just about every car in the field on the first lap. When racing resume, Akeson went back to his ways weaving his way through the field on the on groove track improving his place and finishing with a 5th place finish.
