Modoc, SC - Mike Akeson knocked out another top 5 finish in his Barry Wright chassis crate late model Saturday night October 3rd at Modoc Speedway. The night featured 19 cars taking qualifying times, Akeson found himself in the middle of the field in the 11th starting spot after putting up a time of 18.913. When the checkers fell on the feature that night Akeson had worked his way through the field up to the 5th position take his second top five in a row, and his fifth top ten in a row in his crate late model.

Modoc, SC - The Akeson racing team was in action at their home track of Modoc Speedway Friday night August 21st for regular weekly crate late model program. When qualifying times were completed Akeson found himself with a 7th place starting position in the 25 lap main event after turning a 19.279. When the green waved for the feature to begin Akeson quickly got on his horse to make the moves to count before the track surface locked down. Akeson worked his was to the 5th spot when the checkered flag fell marking one of his strongest runs of the season.

Modoc, SC - The Fastrak Crate Late Model Touring Series rolled into Modoc Speedway on Friday August 14th for a $2,000 feature event. Akeson who has been running Modoc for the second half of the year made the trip north of Augusta, and made it worth at the end of the night with a top ten finish. After qualifying 14th in a field of 22, Akeson laid back and played it cool avoiding all the early race cautions and finally began his march through the field in the 40 lap feature. Mike pass 6 cars under green flag action to finish in the 8th spot, matching his best run of the season. Akeson will be back in action this week at Modoc Speedway on Friday August 21st for weekly show and the following week Mike will run with the big dogs as Screven Motor Speedway plays host to the World of Outlaws late model series in Sylvania, GA.

Augusta, GA - Mike Akeson is gearing to head south for the summer. This coming weekend Akeson will point the hauler south on GA HWY 25 towards Sylvania, GA in hopes of having that breakout night for the '09 season. After having an up and down year Akeson says a local weekly show is just the thing I need to get my year turned around. Screven Motor Speedway being a place where Akeson is known for running strong could be just what Mike and crew need to turn the season around.
